The overall shape of the pendant represents the "Chakana", which is the Andean Cross Symbol referred to as "Chakana", and is a sacred symbol of the ancient Inca civilization.  It represents the four corners of the Inca World, the four directions and the four organizing principles of the universe. This shape is hand carved from Serpentine. The hand worked silver at the top of the stone is in the shape of a hummingbird.  The Royal Hummingbird is sacred to the people of the Andes, The archetype of the North, it was thought to be the symbol of joy and reminded us to enjoy “the sweet nectar of life”. The total length of this piece is 1 1/2" long and the accent stones are a Peruvian Turquoise (Chrysocolla) and a Purple Spiny Oyster Shell.
